Biography

Meghan Dudle started classical violin when she was five years old in the Chicagoland area, performing in Midwest Young Artists Symphony Orchestra and other orchestras and quartets. After experiencing The Freighthoppers one hot August MBOTMA festival, she put down her classical violin and started to study Appalachian, blues and hillbilly swing fiddle in 2000. Before joining Kari Larson and Lisa Schultz of The Ditchlilies in 2003, she played country blues fiddle with Lonesome Dan Kase as well as singing and playing in the old-time duo, The Phonola Winders, with New Bad Habit’s Tim Foss. Somewhere in between the years, she learned rhythm guitar and harmony singing. Playing fiddle with The Ditchlilies from 2003-2008, she has shared festival stages with Pete Seeger, The Dirk Powell Band, The Everybodyfields, Lost Bayou Ramblers, Hunger Mountain Boys, Dale Ann Bradley, and Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike. Her new solo album puts together a wide variety of classic American fiddle tunes alongside original compositions and songs. She continues to break many a horse hair playing for square dances around the Midwest and dances and choreographs with the internationally known clogging group, The Wild Goose Chase Cloggers.
